Mill Creek Elementary School

With over 23 years of dedicated service in education, Mr. Daub brings a wealth of experience, passion, and leadership to Mill Creek Elementary School. He is thrilled to join the Mill Creek team as Principal, where he looks forward to fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and student success.

Before joining Mill Creek, Mr. Daub served as Principal of the Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) in Orlando, Florida—a Pre-K through 8th grade community partnership school serving approximately 1,000 students. Under his leadership, ACE saw a remarkable 110-point increase on state assessments, driven by hands-on, interactive, and content-focused classrooms that empowered students to thrive daily.

Prior to ACE, Mr. Daub led Catalina Elementary School from February 2016 to June 2021 and Castle Creek Elementary School from August 2012 to January 2016.

Beyond his school leadership, Mr. Daub is a respected voice in educational advocacy and professional development:

• Florida State Representative for the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP)
• Past State President of the Florida Association of School Administrators (FASA)
• 2021 Finalist for OCPS Principal of the Year
• 2018 NAESP National Distinguished Principal for Florida

Mr. Daub’s commitment to student achievement, teacher empowerment, and community engagement continues to inspire those around him. Mill Creek Elementary is proud to welcome such a visionary leader to its campus.

About Mrs. Hiltunen:

Prior to joining Mill Creek as Assistant Principal, Mrs. Hiltunen has held the following positions: Teacher at Horizon Middle (2003-2015), Dean of Students at Horizon Middle (2015-2020), and Math/Science Coach (2020-2021). She received her Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Masters in Secondary Education from West Virginia University and an Educational Specialist Degree from Nova Southeastern University.  Mrs. Hiltunen comes to Mill Creek Elementary with a lot of experience.  Over the last 18 years, she has promoted a positive learning experience for all by being the PBIS Coach and is excited to bring that positivity to Mill Creek. She has worked as the Title I Coordinator, New Teacher Mentor, MTSS team member, Math Department Chair, District Curriculum Writing Team Member, and has attended several PLC conferences.  Mrs. Hiltunen is AVID certified and Gifted Endorsed.  She believes, “all teachers should create an environment of hands-on learning, at all stages of the learning process. Students need high-quality teachers, and a rigorous curriculum which promotes and engages critical thinking skills to be prepared for the 21st Century.” Mrs. Hiltunen is originally from West Virginia and is married to her husband, David. Together they have three children Christopher, Joshua, and McKayla. She loves to spend time with her family, enjoys boating, traveling, and exercising.
